ILS EDUCATOR 22 TO 26 PER HOUR

Part Time • Lake Forest
Executive Home Care is growing our Regional Center services and is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated ILS Educators/Instructors to work one-on-one with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) receiving Independent Living Skills (ILS) services through Regional Center of Orange County (RCOC).

This position is ideal for individuals with backgrounds in education, special education, behavioral services, social services, healthcare, developmental disabilities, or direct support who enjoy teaching practical life skills and helping others become more independent.

What You’ll Do

ILS Educators work with consumers in their homes and communities to develop skills based on their individualized needs and goals. This may include teaching budgeting and money management, grocery shopping, meal planning and cooking, household organization, community safety, transportation, appointment management, communication, problem-solving, self-advocacy, and other skills necessary for greater independence.

You’ll also provide encouragement and appropriate behavioral support, practice skills with consumers in real-world settings, document progress toward established goals, and communicate observations or changes to the program director.

Our philosophy is simple: don’t just do it for the consumer—teach, guide, and empower them to do as much as possible for themselves.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who are patient, professional, dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently in clients’ homes and throughout the community.

Preferred experience includes working with adults with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, or other developmental disabilities; ILS/SLS, respite, DSP, behavioral services, special education, social services, or similar programs; and experience with positive behavioral support, redirection, de-escalation, and person-centered care.

Candidates from backgrounds such as teachers, special education professionals, paraprofessionals, behavioral technicians, DSPs, ILS/SLS instructors, social services professionals, CNAs, and healthcare professionals are encouraged to apply.

Applicants should also have a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, reliable transportation, current CPR/First Aid or BLS certification, and current negative TB clearance, and must be able to satisfy applicable background-clearance and RCOC assignment requirements.
